How will you Design my new hairline?Hairline design is one of the most important stages of your treatment process as it sits in the most prominent positions on your scalp. Designing your new hairline is something we take time over during your first treatment session. We add around 45 minutes to your first treatment session for hairline design. We take your input on your preferred hairline whether it be a defined hairline, natural receded look, or a subtle, soft hairline, and our practitioner will advise you along the way. We begin by drawing your new hairline using a wax pencil and make any adjustments as necessary. Only once you are happy with your new hairline design do we start the Scalp Micropigmentation treatment. Although you will have a new hairline in place from your first treatment, it will be a subtle result as we build the density of your treatment over your following treatment sessions. This allows for changes to your hairline if desired over these sessions.

How many sessions will I require? All SMP treatments are performed over 3 sessions, this is the same if it's a scar or a full head we are treating. All quotes you receive will be for 3 sessions.
-
Is SMP the same as a tattoo? The simple answer is no. SMP is reffered to as a medical tattoo but is perfomed using different techniques to a regular tattoo. A tattoo goes 5 layers into your skin were as SMP only goes in 2 layers. All our SMP practitioners are highly trained specifically in Scalp Micro Pigmentation. We only use specific pigments that are created just for scalp treatments, not tattoo ink. The machines and needles we use are also specially designed for SMP. We advise only to get SMP by a trained artist as the only way to remove undesired results are via laser tattoo removal.
-
How long does SMP last?SMP lasts forever with maintenance touch ups along the way. How often you need touch ups can depend on many factors such as your immune system, UV exposure and how you look after your treatment. Before every treatment we will send you aftercare information to help you maintain your SMP the best way possible. In general most clients need a touch up every 4-6 years, some every 2-3. This really depends on the client as every person is different. Touch ups usually take around 2 hours.
-
Is SMP the best option for hair loss?Although there are different hair loss treatments, SMP is the only guaranteed hair loss solution. Hair transplants can sometimes leave scaring depending on what type of procedure you have. They can never guarantee hair growth and you can still loose your hair later on in life. This can become a very expensive solution that does not guarantee results like SMP. SMP is not only for completely bald people, it can also be used to add density to hair that is thinning. Some people shave their head to hide the fact they are loosing their hair, where as SMP makes your hair look shaved by choice. However close you shave your head you will still be able to see your hairline.
-
What if my hair turns grey as I age?If your hair was to turn grey this would not affect your treatment. The pigment we use is formed to settle into your scalp over time. Where some people require touch ups over the years you would just have to leave yours and as your hair gets lighter the treatment will also get lighter over time.
-
What qualifications do your practitioners have? All of our practitioners are fully qualifed in advanced scalp mico pigmentation and have undergone the most extensive training at level 4, the highest graded training for SMP. We are fully insured and registered with the local council.
-
Will my SMP treatment be noticeable to others? Our SMP treatment is performed to a level where it will blend into your existing hair flawlessly, and is therfore not noticeable. We have had clients tell us in the past that they have been told they 'look well' or they 'look different' but rarely put their finger on what has changed. We perform the treatment over 3 sessions with the first session being very subtle so its not obvious from the start, and we slowly add density in the following sessions. We specialise in natural looking results, for this reason your treatment will be less noticeable to others.
-
Do I have to keep my hair shaved? This will vary for different types of clients. We can use SMP to create the look of a full shaved head or for clients that are thinning we can add the desired density. Clients who are opting for the full shaved look will be required to keep their existing hair shaved to a zero so it remains blended in. This will be discussed in more detail during your consultation. Clients with thinning hair will be able to maintain their current haircut as we are only adding density to what you already have.
-

What needles do you use?We use the ICCON SMP needles. These needles have been specially made for SMP treatments. They are very fine and have been designed with absolute precision to match the size of a hair follicle.
-
Will the SMP treatment damage my existing hair growth? No. SMP does not damage existing hair growth nor does it damage the hair growth from a hair transplant procedure. Some research suggests that micro needling to the scalp actually encourages hair growth.
-
Will my scalp be red or sore after the SMP treatment? This depends on your skin type. In most cases the redness will drastically reduce within an hour to 24 hours. Some fairer skin clients can still have some redness for a couple of days but this is very rare. Your scalp might not necessarily be sore but you may experience some itchiness as your scalp starts to heal.
-

-
Can I have SMP after a hair transplant or to cover scars?Yes, many clients opt to have SMP after a hair transplant as they do not get the results of a full head of hair. We can add density to your scalp using SMP to gain the results of a full head of hair. It is advised not to have SMP for at least 9-12 months after having a hair transplant. We also treat clients with scars of any kind.
-
Can I drive after SMP treatment?Yes you can drive after your treatment and still operate heavy machinery.
-
How much does SMP cost?SMP can be priced from £200 per session. The price will be dependant on what treatment you are having; full head, density, covering scars etc. We ask you to send us a picture of the front, top and back of your head. Once we have assessed your pictures we will come up with a pricing plan with options, and you can choose what is best for you. We can discuss this further during your free consultation. Payments can be made in full or per session at no additional cost, and we accept all major debit and credit cards. When making a booking, a deposit is required and will be deducted from your treatment cost.
-
What is the treatment aftercare? After the treatment you can drive, return to work immediately and continue with your day to day duties. For the first 4 days after your treatment we recommend that you do not exercise or do anything that will result in excessive sweating. Excessive sweating can cause the treatment to migrate or not hold. After 10 days you can resume any exercise activities. For the first 4 days after your treatment it is important not to let your head get wet at all. We advise against wearing a cap/hat that would rub on your new SMP treatment. After 4 days you can wet and shave your head again, we advise that you do not swim for at least 30 days due to the chlorine in swimming pools. Full aftercare instructions can be sent to you when requested and will be given to you prior to your treatment.
-

Touch ups can be booked via email, phone or our online booking system.

How are the treatments scheduled? All SMP treatments are performed over 3 seperate sessions. - Treatment 1 - Treatment 2 - 7 Days after treatment 1 - Treatment 3 - 4 weeks after treatment 2 During the first treatment we design your hairline and create a scattered look to lay the initial foundations of your treatment.
